2016 Florida Lineman Competition

Barry Moline, President of FMEA kicked off the event with the flag raising ceremony on a clear Saturday morning.  Competitors paraded in and were cheered on by their families and co-workers.

Each group competed in five events timed and scored for following proper procedures and safety rules.

One of the twists this year was to the Journeyman Vertical Hurtman event was the inclusion of putting an automated external defibrillator (AED) on the manikin this year.

Hurtman simulates rescuing a lineman that was hurt or electrocuted.  Adding the AED helped them train to quickly lower the lineman to the ground as well as emphasizing the importance of getting the AED on quickly.

Lamar Whitacre from Beaches Energy, chief judge for the Hurtman explains the event.
