How to check your Medtronic Physio-Control CR Plus Defibrillator
Maintaining your CR Plus AED is a very simple task that is made up from a few easy steps that are necessary to make sure that your AED is in working order when you need it. It is important to not miss a single step when checking your AED, so we made a list for you.
1. Check the readiness display for the OK symbol
The CR Plus AED performs a self-test once a week and every time it is turned on. If the AED passes its self-test then the OK symbol will be visible on the readiness display. If the self-test is failed and the CR Plus detects a condition that requires attention, the OK symbol in the readiness display will fade and either the CHARGE-PAK symbol, the ATTENTION symbol, or the WRENCH symbol will appear in place of the three black squares in the display.
2. Check the Use By date on the electrode packet.
The Use By date on the electrode packet is visible through the defibrillator lid in the upper right corner. If the date has passed, replace the electrode packet and the CHARGE-PAK battery charger since the dates on both will be the same. If you need to check the date on the battery charger, it can be found on the label on the right side of the front of the battery charger. It is important to also check the dates on any spare packets you might have. Replacement electrodes and CHARGE-PAK can be found here.
3. Check any other emergency supplies stored with your defibrillator
If you have a first aid or fast response kit, inspect the kit to make sure all contents are accounted for and are in working order.
4. Check for damage or cracks on the AED.
5. Record your inspection on your AED Inspection Tag.
The inspection tag helps maintain records of previous inspections as well as displaying when your pads and batteries expire. If you are in need of a maintenance tag then please contact us. We can provide 1 or 2 tags for free or 10 tags for $1.
