Thousands of people have enjoyed the white sand beaches of Sanibel and have fond memories of sunshine, great times, good food and a relaxing life. Recent hurricane Ian has devastated the island.
Altra Medical has over 50 clients on Sanibel, one asked us to hold off a shipment until after 'the storm'. Unfortunately it will be a long time until we can deliver it. Chief Tim Barrett of the Sanibel Fire Department championed a significant AED effort on the island and most businesses, condos and communities had AEDs and had been trained in CPR.
In addition, the Sanibel Police Department, headed by Chief Bill Dalton, reinforced EMS's efforts and have saved over 15 lives by having their staff trained and having AEDs on virtually all their vehicles including ATV's and Marine Units. Sanibel officers are often the first on the scene especially "In Season" when hundreds of visitors clog the roads.
They are so committed to saving lives that they have/had? an AED on the Sanibel City Pier. Look closely and you will see the AED cabinet on the right. We aren't sure if it is still there - but had been there for five years.
Altra Medical would like to replace those lost and will be donating replacements. Please help us. Add $10 at checkout to help fund that effort. 100% of the donation will go to Sanibel AEDs.
For New Years Altra Medical donated five new AEDs, but more are needed. We appreciate your help.
Thank you!
